A Fantasy Photo
Mixed media installation, 2011Supported and installed at the V&A Museum
I was invited to develop a project responding to the theme of Archive Live by the Friday Late team at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The idea developed from a set of slides of my grandparents on holiday in Delhi and Agra.
Folding together themes around nostalgia, place and memory, I gathered slides of tourist spots around Italy and scanned these to become image backgrounds. Visitors had their photograph taken in front of the sculpture of Judith and Holofernes by Donatello in the Medieval + Renaissance Galleries and a specially constructed green screen. The image was then reassembled, printed out for the visitor and uploaded to a tumblr site throughout the evenings event.
