LAY IT ON THICK: is an erotic literary publishing project. This first issue, A Summer Compilation, is a collection of texts, drawings, and images capture the raw heat of sweltering summer moments, those feverish sensations washing over perspiring bodies, vaporizing as they emerge.
It's a publication that friends or lovers can slip in/out of each other’s bags, or accidentally leave in a corner of a local coffee shop, bookshop, library, or art space. We invited a total of 24 contributors based all around the world. They are writers, artists, curators, musicians, philosophers, cultural workers/art labourers gathered together through our personal networks of kinship and affiliations.
The first issue is edited by Natascha Nanji and Palin Ansusinha, and the designer for the very first edition compiled at the end of Summer 2019 is Bangkok-based artist and designer Jeanne Penjan Lassus. Palin, Jeanne, and Natascha met whilst attending the Forest Curriculum Summer School in Bangkok in June 2019.
Copies were posted to our contributors to distribute to their favourite people and places. As well as selling physical copies online via our LAY IT ON THICK instagram. Presently we are stocked at Bangkok CityCity Gallery (Bangkok), Book Society (SEL), SOI (BKK), Whitechapel Gallery Bookshop (LDN), Tender Books (London), STACK (LDN/online), MagCulture (LDN) and Kulture Shop (Mumbai).
